This Wednesday, gear up for one of Hammond Regional Arts Center's "Let’s Talk" art lectures, featuring Canadian-born artist Miriam Schapiro. Shapiro reached beyond what was considered acceptable for women in American art in the mid-twentieth century. This discussion of women’s arts & crafts before Schapiro's time, such as quilting, needlework, and painting, will show how she inspired a new and provocative style of art movement. This lecture will be hosted at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Contemporary Art Gallery. 5 pm‒6 pm. hammondarts.org.
