We pick August as the time to tell stories about the natural and fragile elements of our state. From "The Plight and Progress of the Louisiana Whooping Crane" to C.E. Richard's vivid, literary take on the land loss that plagues Louisiana, from a Baton Rouge neighborhood reconnecting through backyard gardens to the locked and lost forts of Plaquemines Parish, it's more important than ever to keep our eyes open and our fingers on the pulse of our changing, oft-imperiled state.
