A New Delivery Service Crops Up

Now you can join the latest culinary club in Baton Rouge. Country Table, a boutique delivery service operated by Kallie Culotta Svendson and Lauren Beth Slowik, offers members a subscription to the area's seasonal produce.

“We have always been interested in cooking healthy and going to the farmers’ market,” said Slowik. “I’m lucky enough to have a big yard, but a lot of people don’t have the time or yard available for a garden.”

Country Table has been in business for a little over a month, and already business is spreading like wildfire. At inception, deliveries were limited to area codes 70808 and 70809, but the radius now covers most of Baton Rouge. The locally made and grown offerings include a bevy of seasonal produce and add-ons such as grass-fed beef, pork, quail, Bloody Mary mixes, and more.

Slowik and Svendson make their rounds on Monday, occasionally held up by a farmer still picking crops. How’s that for farm-fresh? Deliveries occur Tuesday through Thursday. For an added bonus, Slowik posts a weekly blog on the Country Table website, suggesting recipes for each new bundle of produce.

After a one-time membership fee of $35, customers will receive a weekly ($37) or bi-weekly ($39) bundle, delivered straight to their doors. countrytabledelivery.com.
