Weekend Brunch at City Pork

Bacon ... where it beckons best

What's at the root of City Pork's avalanche of success? Two locations in less than two years, alliances with local businesses, and lunch lines daily staggering out the doors could all be chalked up to the fact that bacon ... well, it's delicious.

But new dinner plates and specials, primarily at the brasserie on Jefferson Highway, have expanded out of the porcine into other corners of the animal kingdom: rabbit, duck, even oyster!

So we're attributing the popularity to a deft hand with their favored products, led by Executive Chef Sean Rivera, and a willingness to evolve ... and evolve creatively.

Now they've seen fit to offer their signature bacon where it beckons best, opening on weekend mornings for brunch. In fact, you might find yourself lured in by the squiggly scent of this bacon, stoked in almost-tangible waves that still course throughout the Perkins Road overpass at this moment.

Maybe it will be the menu of familiar breakfast items with that delicate City Pork touch that gets you (a sample item: City Pork Bacon Waffle: Belgian waffle made from a signature bacon batter and accompanied by bacon jam, whipped Steen's butter, powdered sugar, and fresh fruit.)

Or it could be some of the pictures we took on our first Saturday morning there, laid out below. They'll be open tomorrow too, and every weekend after ... make your brunch plans accordingly. Brunch is Saturday, 8 am–2 pm; Sunday, 8 am–3 pm. 2363 Hollydale Avenue. Find the full menu and more at  cityporkdeli.com.
