Get Thee to Galveston

As the summer season approaches, it will soon be time to choose in which direction to head for the inevitable summer beach trek. A few years back I made the case for Galveston, citing among its delights the gorgeous historic Hotel Galvez. It's the repository of so much history, it has it's own mini-museum with stories of all the notables who've slept there. And this spring, before the summer mobs arrive, you can score room there for as little as $99 a night.
