Philly on the Fly

If the upcoming 4th of July holiday has you in American history mode, here’s good news: Frontier Airlines has another great fare on its relatively new non-stop flights from New Orleans to Philadelphia. As I write this you can still score seats over the holiday weekend for under $160 roundtrip, if you fly out on the Thursday before and return the Tuesday after. It’s even cheaper if you go after the holiday when seats are available for as little as $88 roundtrip. Flyfrontier.com has a handy month view calendar of fares to help you pick the cheapest dates. After you’ve checked out Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the Franklin Institute, grab a rental car and make the hour drive to where Washington led his troops across the Delaware, changing the tide of the Revolutionary War. Today it’s a lovely park and while you’re that close, be sure to drive the few more minutes down the road to the utterly charming twin villages of New Hope, Pennsylvania and Lambertville, New Jersey, connected by an interesting old bridge across the Delaware. More on the many things I love about Philadelphia in this post I did awhile back.
