The Local Language

"What is that?" I was able to ask the fishmonger in Spanish about these weird shrimp-like thingies with faces. I'm vacationing in Spain and was immediately reminded that even a little understanding of the local language is helpful. Which brings me to an an app I've mentioned before but bears repeating. Duolingo helps you learn any of several languages with a series of fun, five-minute lessons, that over the course of a few months helped me triple my Spanish vocabulary. And it's free!
