Indulge in Texas Hill Country Wine

Fredericksburg is home to Texas Wine Country. With over 100 wineries within a two-hour drive and over 50 in town, you are sure to find your favorite. Cool off with a cool white or a crisp rosé, or opt for a dry red, all of which can be enjoyed year-round. When summer comes to a close, grape harvest season begins. From mid-July to early September, the area celebrates the harvest with special events, grape stomps, and more.

Grape stomps are a great way to have fun, enjoy wine and get a little messy. Be sure to capture the moment as this is a can’t-miss event for any wine enthusiast.

Stay closer to town and explore the Urban Wine Trail. Tasting rooms are all located within walking distance of historic downtown Main Street.

Leave the planning and driving to someone else and book with a wine tour or shuttle. Customize your experience or pick from pre-selected wineries.

Enjoy Fredericksburg’s Rich German Heritage

During your visit, take time to learn more about Fredericksburg’s rich German history. Founded in 1846, the settler’s traditions are still seen today in the architecture, food and events.

Pioneer Museum is a 3.5-acre property that shares the story of how the town was founded. The property has a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, and a family home - also called a Sunday House.

Be sure to stop at the Vereins Kirche, located in the center of Fredericksburg on Marktplatz. This landmark was once a church, a school and a community center.

Did you know the 36th President of the United States called the Texas Hill Country home? During his presidency, Lyndon B. Johnson spent time just outside of Fredericksburg in Stonewall. Today, visitors can explore Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, learn about farm life, and see the president’s home and airplane.

When visiting town, be sure to make your first stop the Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center. Knowledgeable staff can help you make the most of your trip. The Visitor Information Center also has a free, 10-minute video about Fredericksburg, ample free parking, public restrooms and Wi-Fi.
