An integral part of America’s musical story begins in Tupelo, Mississippi. The birthplace of Elvis Presley, young Elvis spent his formative years in Tupelo before heading to Memphis with a guitar and a dream. And, the rest is history. From small, intimate settings to a 10,000-seat arena, Tupelo has 13 live music venues that are vast and varied. Blue Canoe is Tupelo’s home for good mood food and original live music. They offer more than 100 beers, 35 of which are on tap daily. Downunder, in Downtown Tupelo, has unique, handcrafted cocktails, international pub grub, and live music. Lost+Found is one of the city’s top local coffee shops and they offer live music during the week including singer-songwriter nights. With great burgers and the coldest beer in town, Lone Star Schooner Bar & Grill hosts weekly live music in the Barnes Crossing District. 

Situated between Memphis, TN, and Birmingham, AL, on Interstate 22, Tupelo hosts numerous entertainment events throughout the year. The BancorpSouth Arena is the city’s premier concert facility, hosting live national music acts in its state-of-the-art facility. From sold-out country music shows and unforgettable rock concerts to ice skating performances and children’s events, the BancorpSouth Arena knows how to draw a crowd. 

Tupelo’s festivals and special events offer unique opportunities to experience the city’s live music scene. CHANGE Tupelo Festival is a brand-new event happening Labor Day weekend in Tupelo. Punk rock performances on the streets of Downtown Tupelo will make this an exciting event to behold. Fall Into Tupelo happens October 7-8 and includes live music and the annual ChiliFest. Tupelo’s New Year’s Eve Party invites visitors to sing along as an array of bands play on multiple stages throughout the night to celebrate the coming year. A singer-songwriter competition and live music events are part of the annual Gumtree Art & Wine Festival held Mother’s Day weekend in Downtown Tupelo. The Tupelo Elvis Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2023 with a week’s worth of live music to honor the city’s favorite native son.
