Found Treasure in Denham Springs

Abundant antiques and small town charm along Main Street

“We’ve got everything imaginable,” says Donna Jennings, the Main Street Manager for Denham Springs. She's not exaggerating. From vintage clothing and colorful comic books to the perfect pie safe to complement your kitchen, the award-winning Denham Springs Antique District is the all-in-one destination for the adept shopper who thrives on the thrill of a good find. With over two dozen shops to peruse, you'll want to allot ample time (and car space) to explore all the district has to offer.

Searching for a unique, thoughtful gift? Look no further than the talented artisans who make up Livingston Parish's creative community. Local makers offer custom-made jewelry and furniture, while expansive antique malls such as Theatre Antiques and Benton Bros. Antique Mall carry an assortment of storied heirlooms and rustic pieces, so shoppers can find everything from dusty bygone relics to fine antiques. The historic district is a trove of special collectibles from handcrafted furniture and decor to eclectic knick-knacks. If you’re looking for something specific, like a custom cypress piece, Doug at Bayou's Best Restoration has you covered. Or, if you're just looking to get out the house for the day with some retail therapy, the air-conditioned aisles of Livingston's antique markets invite you to wander in and away from the sweltering temperatures (or those oft-occurring rainy days) of summer in South Louisiana, and into beautiful downtown Denham Springs.

A regional attraction for over two decades, the Antique Village was added onto the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. The Main Street Cultural District embodies the small-town character and charm that just can't be replicated; that's the beauty of it, says Jennings. Not only will you find something different, you'll get it at a reasonable price point to boot.

Time your trip for the second Saturday of the month to bear witness to the spectacle that is V. Watts Trade Day: hundreds of vendors set up shop at V. Watts Trade Mart for an open-air market of everything you didn’t know you needed until now. For other vendor-heavy community-wide events, the Denham Springs Merchants Association is the impetus behind the town’s annual spring and fall festivals, and Christmas in the Village, drawing crowds from all over the state to support myriad makers and partake in the festivities.
