Speaking of food, the menu for the Swamp Life Expo is beyond mouthwatering, presenting a showcase of foods that have made Louisiana a world-renowned culinary force. Attendees will have the chance to enjoy free tastes of, among other delicious regional dishes, jambalaya, duck and andouille gumbo, catfish, étouffée, cracklins, venison, sausage, cooked greens, homemade snoballs—and a whole pit-roasted alligator! All the food is prepared by local volunteers, meaning both that the expo has a very real and strong tie to the community and that you’ll have the chance to taste some amazing home-cooked meals. A lot of festivals promise home cooking, but the Swamp Life Expo delivers the real goods.

And, of course, it’s not a festival without music. Aside from food, Louisiana’s other huge cultural gift to the world (you’re welcome!) is its music. At the Swamp Life Expo, celebrate the area’s tuneful heritage by taking a swing around the dance floor to Terry and the Zydeco Bad Boyz, a local zydeco band that entertains visitors at the expo every year. Live music and plentiful, delicious food—it’s hard to think of a better way to spend a Saturday! visitiberville.com/iberville-swamp-life-expo.
