Changing Seasons, Changing Menus

The three restaurants at Houmas House are committed to serving locally grown, seasonal fare

You don't have to be an overnight guest to enjoy the excellent dining options available at Houmas House Plantation and Gardens. Three different restaurants ensure a wide variety of delicious takes on Louisiana cuisine. Menus change seasonally to emphasize local and seasonal foods, all made possible by the relationships Chef Joseph DiCapo has fostered with local growers and purveyors. Much of the produce served at Houmas House's restaurants is grown on-site, underscoring a commitment to freshness and true farm-to-table food.

Latil’s Landing is the fine-dining option; guests are seated in the original plantation home and choose from tasting menus that reflect the great French culinary traditions, which would have been familiar to and enjoyed by the house's original owners and their guests. Unlike many tasting menus, guests have options for each course—and if you can't find something that tempts you, you may simply not like food.

The Carriage House offers more casual options within a still-elegant dining room, promising a more relaxed experience that still provides absolutely top-notch dining. Both of these restaurants will be presenting special Valentine's Day menus, with sophisticated selections like sea bass garnished with edible flowers, curried pumpkin bisque, and wild-caught grilled scallops. It's worth falling in love just for the chance to explore these creations.

For those interested in traditional Louisiana dishes, the Burnside Café offers brunch options and a very hospitable lunch buffet that includes favorites like poboys, seafood pasta in tomato cream sauce, red beans and rice, fried catfish, and a silky white chocolate bread pudding. With menus like these, reservations are a good idea, especially for Valentine's Day; call ahead to be sure you've got a seat at these tables.
