Take Me to Tallulah

In early 2022, Tallulah Crafted Food & Wine Bar will debut a menu refresh courtesy of its new executive chef, Jason Hebert.

Any luxury hotel worth its salt knows that the quality of its in-house cuisine can make or break the guest experience. Luckily, the proprietors of Tallulah Crafted Food & Wine Bar, located on the ground floor of Renaissance Baton Rouge, is well aware of this simple truth, as the restaurant is considered a mainstay of exquisite fine dining in the region. 2021 marks the hotel’s tenth anniversary, and in honor of the milestone the in-house restaurant is revamping its food and beverage offerings. Helmed by Executive Chef Jason Hebert, a Louisiana native, the menu debut will be a celebration of the local area, highlighting fresh, indigenous dishes guaranteed to please both locals and guests from around the world.

A staple of the Baton Rouge culinary scene since opening its doors in 2011, Tallulah is known for its upscale atmosphere and extensive wine selection. Hotel guests and locals alike gather for Tallulah’s handcrafted American fare with a contemporary Southern twist and specially curated wine list boasting more than thirty-six fine wines available by the glass or bottle. Interested in trying something new or finding a new favorite? Order a wine flight, and compare the flavor notes of different wines. It wouldn’t be a true Louisiana dining experience without a cold beer, and Tallulah boasts local brews on tap including Baton Rouge’s own Rally Cap Brewing Co., guaranteeing the perfect pour for any meal. The bar staff is well-versed in craft creations from a signature cocktail menu always fresh with seasonal selections (may we recommend the pecan pie old fashioned?).

Beginning bright and early at 6 am, you can start your day with a hot coffee and a sweet or savory spread, such as fresh beignets or bananas foster waffles. For when the day's other mealtime occasions call, Tallulah hosts a variety of choices to choose from: casual eats like burgers and brisket fries to fine dining entrees such as seared redfish and filet mignon, to regional favorites like fried green tomatoes with spicy boiled shrimp and corn maque choux frisée remoulade.

The spacious outdoor terrace whose fire and water features make it a particularly appealing spot in spring for a group gathering or relaxed evening. You can’t have a true Louisiana experience without sitting down to a good meal. Whether you’re an out-of-town guest at Renaissance or a Baton Rouge local hungry for a hometown haunt, Tallulah is sure to sate your appetite for an elegant serving of Southern comfort or your thirst for a worthy libation.
