Tennessee Williams Festival Presents "The Kindness of Strangers"
A star-studded celebration of Tennessee Williams and his life in New Orleans
to
Statewide Baton Rouge, Louisiana
"I have always depended on the kindness of strangers," acquiesced Blanche Dubois in the long-beloved Tennessee Williams classic A Streetcar Named Desire. Now, the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival will depend upon the kindness of several particularly famous strangers to host their virtual event, "The Kindness of Strangers". In lieu of the usual festival, which was cancelled this year in light of the pandemic, this free online event will feature a star-studded cast performing some of their favorite Williams scenes and monologues, as well as recounting memories from festivals past. Brian Batt of Mad Men is set to host; with performances by John Goodman, Michael Cerveris, Harry Shearer, Kathleen Turner, Rodney Hicks, Ti Martin, Wendell Pierce, and many more.
While the event is entirely free, viewers are encouraged to follow the donate button to support the work of the Festival. The viewing link will be available at Tennesseewilliams.net beginning at 7 pm on Friday, July 31 - August 14.
