History tells that human resilience often manifests as a renewal of cultural consciousness. In the case of New Orleans, such a phenomenon can be observed in the city's boom of contemporary art. In the Historic New Orleans Collection's exhibition, Art of the City: Postmodern to Post-Katrina, interdisciplinary artist, curator, and educator Jan Gilbert curates a series of diverse artist perspectives of New Orleans over the past few decades. Over 75 artists will be represented, both homegrown visionaries and devoted visitors, including Krista Jurisich, Douglas Bourgeois, Luis Cruz Azaceta, Candy Chang, Gina Phillips, and Zarouhie Abdalian, Brandan Odums, and Rontherin Ratliff.
The exhibit will be on display from April 6–October 6.
