Basic Design and Color Theory

Longue Vue's Artist-in-Residence Peg Usner offers her wisdom to aspiring designers in this two-day workshop, covering the basics of composition. Participants will learn the concepts and vocabulary of design, calling upon line, shape, value, color, texture, and space to create 5"x8" compositions in alignment with the principles of unity, balance, variety, scale, proportion, rhythm, and emphasis. Participants will work on card stock with materials such as pen, black and grayscale paper, and colored swatches. No design experience necessary. 10 am–12:30 pm each day, July 3 and July 5. $45 non-members; $40 members. The class is limited to 15 participants. Pre-registration required.
