Basinkeeper Paddle Trip & Fish Fry

Experience the Atchafalaya in a whole new way, accompanied by the Basinkeeper Dean Wilson, who works as the local arm of the Waterkeeper alliance dedicated to saving the Atchafalaya Swamp. Participants will be provided kayaks, paddles, and pfds and will be led through the Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, with stops along the way for Dean to discuss challenges in the Basin. The route is an easy one, perfect for beginners and for families, and at the end everyone will enjoy a fish fry with new-found friends. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Basinkeeper program. $55 for solo kayaks; $100 for two-person kayaks; $45 per person if you bring your own boat. Be sure to bring water bottles, rain/wind gear, a hat, and dry clothing for the trip home. Must be older than twelve to participate and every one younger than eighteen must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Meet at Pack & Paddle at 7:30 am, from which we will carpool to the launch.
