Bayou Pigeon Louisiana - Spirit of the Atchafalaya
Plaquemine, La Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70764
From 1806, when the first European explorers paddled by an oak ridge, where there were thousands of pigeons (passenger pigeons) feeding and roosting and gave the place its name, to approximately the 1970s, the spirit of the Atchafalaya has thrived in the community of Bayou Pigeon.
Clifford "Chachie" LeGrange will speak on the history of Bayou Pigeon, Louisiana and its people. Researched and compiled by natives of the area. A copy of the book, Bayou Pigeon, Louisiana: The Spirit of the Atchafalaya, will be given away as a door prize. 6:30 pm at The Café at Stephen School of Music & Art (58015 Plaquemine Street).
