Big Yam Potatoes Old Time Music Contest

Musicians arrive from all over Mississippi (and several states beyond) to perform free concerts all day during the Mississippi Fiddlers' Association's annual event at Historic Jefferson College. The event celebrates the unique style of fiddle and string band music that would have been commonly heard on the front porches and at the barn dances of Mississippi in the days before radio. 

Live performances by some of the region's finest old-time musicians are scheduled all day Saturday, as is a fiddle contest of old time music for both young and experienced fiddlers, which should set the rosin flying. Settle in within earshot of the outdoor stage, and if you'd like to join in a jam, bring an instrument.
