Conversations and Readings with John Warner Smith

Thanks to the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, Louisiana State Poet Laureate John Warner Smith will present a special free reading and conversation at the Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville this evening. Smith will read selections from his four collections of poetry, much of which draws upon African American history and his personal experiences growing up and living in the South. Louisiana's first African American male Poet Laureate, Smith has been published in numerous literary journals around the country including Ploughshares, Callaloo, North American Review, and Missouri Review. His fifth collection of poetry will be released later this year.
