Cranksgiving
City-Brooks Community Park 1515 Dalrymple Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Part food drive, part scavenger hunt, Bike Baton Rouge’s ‘Cranksgiving’ collects food and cash for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank which lost a lot of its inventory in the August flood. Begun in New York City in 1999, ‘Cranksgiving’ collected food in about eighty cities worldwide last year. Riders pedal to five grocery stores on a list provided at registration, pick up food items (also on the list), and return to City Park. (There’s a family-friendly route of about five miles for those who need a shorter one.) Registration begins at noon, roll out is at 1 pm. Ride ends at 2:30, but the fun only just begins; after the ride, there will, of course, be a party. Bring a bicycle, a lock, a helmet, and $20 to spend. bikebr.org/cranksgiving.
