Daydreams of a Metropolitan

A tidy solution to a need for more exhibition space, the new Mezzanine Gallery at Hammond Regional Arts Center will be christened with an exhibition by Tiffany Nesbit. Daydreams of a Metropolitan seeks balance between industry and nature by drawing unusual, almost cartoonlike comparisons between the two. The show features ten to twenty large-scale mixed-media paintings. “[Nesbit's] artwork reveals a careful excavation and authenticity that is both textural, innovative, and compelling," says HRAC executive director Maureen Joyce. Daydreams opens only July 12 with a reception from 5 pm–8 pm and remains on view until August 9. hammondarts.org.
