EBRP Library's Mid City Micro-Con
Mid City Micro-Con goes virtual this year, with the theme “Creating the Future, Expanding Our Universe”
East Baton Rouge Parish Library's third annual Mid City Micro-Con plans to celebrate diversity in comics with the theme "Creating the Future, Expanding Our Universe". The event will highlight too-often unrepresented voices in comics, art, and their fandoms with a series of discussion panels, a virtual scavenger hunt, and even a virtual cosplay competition (with prizes, of course). Special guests include Javier Hernandez, creator of comic book series El Muerto: The Aztec Zombie; Greg Burnham, creator of comic book Tuskegee Heirs; Henry Barajas, creator of La Voz De M.A.Y.O. Tata Rambo., a graphic novel chronicling the life of his great grandfather. Taking place wherever there's internet access, from 10am-5 pm. A week ahead of the virtual convention on August 22 at 2pm, a virtual trivia contest will be live-streamed on Twitch to test participants' sci-fi, superhero, and pop culture prowess. Adults and teens can register for the trivia contest by emailing midcitymicrocon@gmail.com.
