Fiction Workshop: Creating and Developing Compelling Characters

Developing characters that evoke emotion and compel is essential to writing effective fiction. In this workshop, writers will learn specific techniques and strategies focused on developing unique, memorable characters. Aside from focusing on voice, agency, interiority, and memory as critical elements of character in fiction. the workshop will also explore other aspects of character development as they relate to tension, dialogue, and plot. In this workshop led by author Christopher Tusa at Brew Ha-Ha Coffeehouse, students will complete weekly writing exercises, readings, and at the end of the workshop, all will receive personal feedback in response to their submitted work. All ages, all skill levels, and novels of all genres welcome. Classes will meet every Wednesday at Brew Ha-Ha from 7 pm–8 pm.
