Independence Day in Donaldsonville: July 3: Crescent Park comes alive with live music all afternoon before the fireworks at 9:15. It's the only public fireworks display in Ascension Parish, and this historic little town puts on a good show. donaldsonville-la.gov

Annual Plaquemine Hometown Celebration: July 4, At its annual Hometown Celebration at Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park, expect old-fashioned games, veterans' boat parade, food, crafts, live music, dancing, and a jitterbug contest—all starting at 3 pm. Fireworks end the night at 9 pm. The Plaquemine Lock SHS, located adjacent to the park, will be open with free tours from 3 pm–7 pm, and the Iberville Museum will be open with free admission from 3 pm–7 pm. visitiberville.com

Fourth Fest: July 4, The Fest is on again, with a spectacular view of the USS KIDD's fireworks show from Port Allen's Riverfront Levee, where magicians, clowns, spacewalks, and face painters will be at the ready from 4 pm until 11 pm.
