If you think there's quite enough hot air in a South Louisiana summertime, why not come and see some of it put to good use? This competitive event takes place in the heart of Ascension Parish, touching down on the grounds of the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. From a spectator’s point of view, balloonists doing battle in the summer sky makes for picturesque viewing. In addition to the hot air balloon competitions each morning, balloon glows and liftoffs are planned each evening, and there'll be tethered rides, parachute jumps, fireworks, arts & crafts, live music, and plenty of good eating. A children's village promises face painting, a miniature ferris wheel, air plane rides, a train, and a magic show—along with meet and greets with Captain America and Spiderman themselves! 4 pm–11 pm Friday; 11 am–11 pm Saturday;11 am–6 pm Sunday. 9039 South Saint Landry Avenue.
