There's a frank humor to artist Adam Mysock's work, even as he chronicles decades of deception. In thirty-five paintings at the Jonathan Ferrara Gallery—one for each year of Mysock's life—he explores lies, likability, and morality. Portrait miniatures, a form historically reserved for remembering loved ones, document personalities including Richard Nixon and Fred Rogers and icons like the apple that tempted Adam, each prompting the artist's lyrical musings on the ways lying lies at the foundation of our world. The exhibit opened October 30 and will remain on view in the Centre Gallery until December 15, with a First Saturday Gallery Opening set for December 1, 5 pm–9 pm. jonathanferraragallery.com.
Don't miss: In the Main Gallery at Jonathan Ferrara, visitors will enjoy the wit and daring of The Changing Face of Portraiture, the premier solo exhibition of photography by revisionist-art history duo E2 – Kleinveld & Julien. The exhibit will also remain on view until December 15 with a December 1 reception. Additionally, in conjunction with the New Orleans Photo Alliance’s PhotoNOLA, the gallery will host an artist talk and luncheon with Epaul Julien on Friday, December 14, from noon–1 pm.
