Research proves that instruction in music is good for more than just the music's sake. It nourishes parts of the brain that deal with mathematics, tunes live performance skills, and gets you into all the cool parties. Not that parties are on the minds of the Kids' Orchestra's two hundred second-through-fifth graders, who hail from public, private, and charter schools across Baton Rouge. Kids' Orchestra is touring ten performances as part of its Neighborhood Concert Series. The performances are free, but $5 donations are encouraged to further the program's good work. All performances begin at 5:30 pm, except for the Kids Choir performance, which will start at 6 pm, and the Honors Program performance, which will start at 4 pm. kidsorchestra.org.
