The Lafourche Parish Public Library System provides countless opportunities to engage with literature, science, and community each month. Here are this month's highlights:
All Month Long: March Fine Free, Fine Forgiveness Program—The Lafourche Parish Public Libraries are promising to forgive an outstanding fines of any amount for overdue, damaged, or lost items this month in exchange for varying amounts of donated nonperishable food or pet supplies. Donated items will benefit local organizations. For more information, call your local Lafourche library branch.
March 6 & 30: Art workshop for all ages with local artist Azalea Rivet. Raceland Library. 4 pm.
March 8: Learn to Make Sidewalk Chalk. Ages 4–11. Choctaw Library. 1 pm.
March 11: Learn Plant TLC—Get tips and tricks for growing a great garden and giving your plants some TLC. Lockport Library. Registration required at lafourche.org. 11 am.
March 12: Dr. Seuss Story Hour—Enjoy Dr. Seuss stories and decorate Seuss-inspired cupcakes to celebrate the authory's literary contributions to young readers. Gheens Library. 4:30 pm.
March 14: Paint a Shamrock—Celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Youth Art Month with shamrock masterpieces at the Larose Library. Ages 8–17. 4 pm.
March 16: Slime Squad—Children of all ages are invited to conduct experiments with household materials and create different types of slime. Lockport Library. Registration required at lafourche.org. 2 pm.
March 18: Book Talk with Celeste Norris, Author of Cajun By Blood: A Thibodaux Family Story. 5:15 pm.
March 23: Giant Jenga Tournament. South Lafourche Branch. 11 am.
March 23: Dungeons and Dragons Club—Kids ages 9 to 12 can partake in the classic role-playing game that allows players to create tales of magic and adventure, using creativity and imagination to overcome obstacles and outwit opponents at the Thibodeaux Library. 1 pm.
