The Mississippi Arts & Entertainment Experience is celebrating storytelling through textiles in its new exhibit Material Pulses: Seven Viewpoints. Quilt-making as a practical art uniquely manifests itself in a vast variety of cultures and traditions all across the world. In this exhibition, seven fiber artists from all around the world will contribute to the contemporary dialogues of textile arts. Curator Nancy Crow says of the collection, "Material Pulses is the culmination of my mission to bring back the majesty, strength, and energy of textile works, particularly large quilts."
An extension of the exhibit, called Mississippi Quiltings, will celebrate the work of twenty Mississippi textile artists. Both collections will be on display from May 25–August 11. Free with museum admission. msarts.org.
