Once Upon a Picnic

The rolling lawn of the Old State Capitol calls for a picnic—so here it is! Bring your hamper for an afternoon of old-fashioned games and challenges, historical characters, a special re-dedication of the building honoring veterans, a singalong led by students of the School of Visual and Performing Arts, and more. The occasion marks twenty-five years since the restoration and reopening of the Old State Capitol under the Secretary of State's direction. Don't miss the chance to explore the newest permanent exhibit, Castle on the River, as well as the departing Civil War cell replica. 1 pm–4 pm, rain or shine. Free.
