Opera’s timeless classics provide a celebratory soundtrack for Opéra Louisiane’s Tenth Anniversary Gala concert
River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts 396 St. Louis Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
Opera’s greatest hits and treasured classics provide a celebratory soundtrack for Opéra Louisiane’s Tenth Anniversary Gala concert at the Baton Rouge River Center Theater. This collaboration of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and the fast expanding opera exemplifies the spirit of both organizations to uplift the Capital City with music. Favorites such as the seductive "Habanera" from Bizet’s Carmen, "Dich teure Halle" from Wagner’s Tannhäuser, the beautiful Pearl Fishers’ duet, and the thrilling tenor solo "Nessun dorma" from Puccini’s Turandot, highlight an evening of music and nostalgia. Opéra Louisiane Artistic Director Michael Borowitz serves as maestro in front of the full forces of the BRSO, alongside select members of the Baton Rouge Symphony Chorus, combined with the Opéra Louisiane Community Chorus, under LSU’s Trey Davis. Eight soloists take the stage in duets and arias from Tosca, Aida, Il Trovatore, The Barber of Seville, Samson and Delilah, and more. 7:30 pm. $38‒$88, $20 for students; 18 and under get in free. operalouisiane.com or (225) 377-2029.
