Outdoors-Woman Workshop
to
Camp Grant Walker 3000 LA-8, Pollock, Louisiana 71467
The myth that a woman is somehow at a loss in the wilderness (what with her high heels and silly lacquered nails) will be further combatted this weekend with Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries' "Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" workshop. She just needs a good teacher, or so says program founder Christine Thomas of the University of Wisconsin. For the thirty-first year, LDWF offers a three-day education in outdoor skills through the streams, lakes, and wooded areas of Camp Grant Walker in Pollock; attendees can choose four classes from over thirty topics including bucks and does, shotgun, rifle, handguns, fly-fishing, kayaking, camping, archery, fishing, boating/trailering, compass skills, outdoor photography, camp cooking and more. The $200 fee (check or money order only) includes instruction for four selected classes, program materials, use of demonstration equipment, lodging, meals and a T-shirt. Ages 18 and older. The workshop is currently full but a waiting list is available at wlf.louisiana.gov/becoming-outdoors-woman.
