Paddling for Preservation
Covington, La. Covington, Louisiana 70433
The Bogue Falaya, its riverbanks, and its white sand bars are a prime setting for "Paddling for Preservation," led today by Land Trust for Louisiana and Canoe & Trail Adventures. The eight-mile river trip, made by canoe or kayak, lets paddlers see for themselves the Northshore flora and fauna that calls for their protection. The trip kicks off at 10 am, with the launch location provided upon sign-up. Expect to be back by mid-afternoon, with a lunchtime stop to enjoy a cold drink and bring-your-own-bag lunch. Advance registration and signed waiver required. $40; $30 if you provide your own vessel; children accompanied by two paddlers can be added to a rental canoe for just $10. Event proceeds benefit Land Trust for Louisiana, dedicated to preserving valuable natural land in the state’s varied communities. Register at canoeandtrail.com/land-trust-fundraiser.
