Rock the (Food) Bank: A Christmas Concert
A benefit concert to raise funds for the Baton Rouge Food Bank, by hometown boy Blair Gilley.
Varsity Theatre 3353 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
Blair Gilley and his band, January Noise, return to his hometown to play a concert at the Varsity to benefit the Baton Rouge Food Bank.
For the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and all who depend on it, Christmas comes a little bit early this year, when Louisiana native and pro musician Blair Gilley and his band January Noise return from Nashville to headline a benefit concert at the Varsity Theatre on December 22. All proceeds will support the Food Bank, which despite having had its warehouses inundated in the August floods, continues to feed thousands of families in need throughout the metropolitan area.
Never has the need been greater, and Gilley hopes to make concert an annual event to benefit the region. He approached The Varsity Theatre because of a lifelong appreciation of the venue. “My love for this venue, building, and its commitment to continue promoting live music in Baton Rouge runs deep,” he says. "Helping others is something that is close to my heart. I’ve been blessed to play music for a living and this is my way to say thanks and give back to help those truly in need.” Tickets are $10, and since the Food Bank manages to provide four meals for every $1 donated, each attendee will be directly providing forty meals simply by showing up.
