"Sale-ing" on the Bayou
A city-wide garage sale along the banks of Bayou Rouge
Cottonport, La Baton Rouge, Louisiana 71327
In the nineteenth century Bayou Rouge was deep enough to accommodate the large boats that carried cotton from this Avoyelles Parish town to the Port of New Orleans. And although Bayou Rouge is no longer navigable, it's a pretty good place to fish, and also makes a nice backdrop for the annual citywide yard sale that sprouts along its banks the last weekend in September. Come see what emerges from Cottonport's closets, garages, and workshops this day from 7 am–'til. (318) 201-7355 or travelavoyelles.com.
