"The Phantom of the Opera"

Tonight at The Historic New Orleans Collection's Williams Research Center, pianist Pierre Queval will provide live, improvised accompaniment to the classic silent film The Phantom of the Opera (1925) at a special screening. Adapted from Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel, the film stars Lon Chaney in the title role, as he haunts the Paris Opera House. The movie is noted for its technical accomplishment, with critic Roger Ebert giving it four stars. The French-born Queval graduated from the Paris Conservatory and regularly performs the piano and organ at churches throughout France.
