Candidates who ran for the nation’s highest office and lost are the focus of “They Also Ran: Presidential Hopefuls,” a new traveling exhibit at the Old State Capitol. From war heroes to unsuccessful incumbents to historical firsts, the exhibit gives guests the chance to speculate what could have happened if the election results had been different.The exhibit features the often-neglected candidates’ stories through original cartoons, sheet music and memorabilia.
