Head to New Orleans East to ring in the Vietnamese lunar new year (called "Tet") this weekend at Mary Queen of Vietnam Church. Performances (Lion Dances!), games, raffles, authentic cuisine, and a family-friendly environment. Attendees will likely widen their palates with a range of delicacies on offer: mung bean and meat wrapped in banana leaves, sticky rice cakes, hearty goat hot pots—and that's on the tame side. The festival gets started on Friday night, kicking off with an assortment of games, a fireworks show, and a dragon dance; on Saturday attendees can try foods, browse vendors and enjoy activities before another fireworks show and dragon dance, followed by cultural dances and musical performances, all to be repeated on Sunday. Open to the public. Details at neworleans.com.
