Smithsonian Water/Ways Exhibit
to
Jeanerette Museum 500 East Main Street, Jeanerette, Louisiana 70544
The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and the Jeanerette Museum Board of Directors present Water/Ways a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street program, which will be on display until April 6. The exhibit will interrogate the ways in which humans, particularly in this region, interact with water culturally, economically, and historically, and will feature a showcase of local artists from L'Acadian Art Guild called Water, Water Everywhere.
The exhibit's grand opening, held on February 24 at the Jeanerette Museum, will feature water-themed live music (think Born on the Bayou, Proud Mary, River of Love) by the Landry Brothers Band. The exhibit will be open to the public free of charge in the annex building. 2 pm. (337) 276-4408.
As part of the Water/Ways programming, on February 27, Professor Brian Marks will present a lecture on Mike Tidwell's book Bayou Farewell, discussing Louisiana's receding coastline. Held at the Iberia Library Parkview Branch from 6–8 pm. (337) 364-7480.
