Don’t let the underwhelming atmosphere dissuade you from enjoying the fragrant food of this Ethiopian restaurant. Served on and along with injera, the country’s traditional flatbread, the flavorful dishes remind you of Indian curries and Middle Eastern kebabs all at once. Incredibly, there are actually two Ethiopian restaurants in the Garden District (Nile is the other). But Café Abyssinia has a snoball stand outside, which some diners may consider a decided advantage. By the way, bring your own beer/wine/whatever.
