With plenty of events on deck for this summer and beyond, Webster Parish is ready to welcome you. From terrain bespeckled with sun-soaked bayous and languid lakes to fun-filled festivals and competitive cook-offs, there's something for everyone in this North Louisiana hidden gem. One of the parish's must-see main attractions: Minden's Historic Main Street District. A downtown hub for many of the area's happenings, its storied brick streets are calling your name.
Minden’s Main Street is home to all the hustle and bustle of the “friendliest city in the South.” One of only two main streets in Louisiana to still have its original brick roads, the historic district remains the heart and soul of Minden. From restaurants to festivals to historic shops, Minden Main Street has plenty to offer in the entertainment department.
Aside from Grilling on Main, Main Street is home to many fêtes happening all year round in Minden. In July, the annual Duck Derby is the perfect way to kick off Independence Day weekend. Attendees can purchase tickets to test their luck on the hundreds of rubber ducks racing their way through downtown Minden. With hot dogs and fireworks, it’s a quintessential celebration of the red, white, and blue.
Come the second weekend of September, downtown Minden is the place to be for the annual Vintage Car Show & Shine. The show proudly displays roughly one hundred vintage cars, and the weekend commences with a state cook-off.
Fond of a good vintage market? Mark your calendar for Main to Main Trade Days. Held the first weekend in November, the parish-wide event invites visitors to stumble upon prized finds on the Main Streets of Sibley, Minden, Dixie Inn, Cotton Valley, Sarepta, and Springhill. The forty-five mile sale features an amalgamation of antiques, collectibles, thrifts, crafts, and more.
And of course, there are plenty of holiday happenings. At Christmastime, downtown Minden is merry and bright as part of the Holiday Trail of Lights. For Mardi Gras, the town’s annual parade lets the good times roll with an impressive seven to eight thousand attendees.
There’s plenty of fun to be had year round on Minden Main Street, too. If you’re looking for a bite to eat, there’s a restaurant in downtown Minden to fit each and every one of your cravings. Check out Habacu’s if you’re in the mood for Mexican, Roma for Italian, Geaux Fresh for a lunchtime bite, or Broken Bean for your caffeine fix. Want to plan yourself a trip?
