If you’re looking to find some good deals or just like the scavenger-hunt thrill of looking for a cool find, set the weekend of April 15—17 aside to come explore the largest yard sale in America at the spring Highway 80 sale.
The semiannual sale stretches from Texas to Georgia along the historic roadway, and vendors will be posted along Highway 80 from downtown Minden to Dixie Inn selling craft, antique, vintage, and food. Don't forget to stop at local antique and thrift stores along the way—Flip Flop Resale, Kim’s Attic, Mercy’s Closet, Heavenly Treasures, Possibilities Antiques and Collectibles, and Cheryl’s Can-Do Network—where you’ll find hundreds of vendor booths and special discounts. Past years have seen thousands of participants and shoppers; so while there’s plenty of competition, there are also plenty of great buys. This sale is a great opportunity for treasure hunters: whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.
The Piney Hills Master Gardeners Green Thumb Jamboree returns on April 23. The annual plant sale extravaganza includes a smattering of vendors, food trucks, and children's activities (including coloring, demonstrations with the fire department and game warden in attendance, plant-a-plant, archery, and more). Shoppers can expect to find items such as flowers and herbs, wreaths and flower pots, and artwork and baked goods. 8 am—1 pm at the Minden LSU AgCenter (1202 Homer Road).
