On December 12, on the second floor of its Campaigns of Courage Pavilion, the National World War II Museum opened its newest exhibit. In The Road to Tokyo, ten interconnected, interactive galleries retrace the grueling trail that led troops from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay by way of New Guinea and Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, Burma, the islands of the Pacific, China, India, and Alaska. Exhibits explore the evolving strategy for fighting relentless Japanese forces in Asia and the Pacific, examining the cultural differences, logistical challenges, and the staggering range of extreme conditions that confronted American military forces in Asia and the Pacific. A dazzling, constantly-evolving, six-acre campus in the heart of New Orleans’ Warehouse District, the National World War II Museum is listed #3 among must-see museums in the U.S. by TripAdvisor.com. So make a resolution to experience it this year. nationalww2museum.org
