What's on tap for Parish Brewing?

I first caught up with Andrew Godley, brewmaster and owner of Parish Brewing Company about a year ago. He had just started bottling his signature beer, Canebrake and distributing it in Baton Rouge. We talked about the future of Parish and Godley’s desire to have a taproom attached to the brewery where he could sell directly to the public.

Well, it is has been a busy year for Godley to say the least.  In addition to keeping up with the demand for Canebrake, Parish launched Envie, an American Pale Ale and Farmhouse IPA, a Belgium style ale. The brewery also had great success with its limited edition Grand Reserve barleywine ale that arrived in 750ml bottles just in time for the holidays.  

About a month ago, renovations to the front of the brewery were complete and the Parish Taproom opened for business and it is definitely worth a visit.  The modern mancave is dominated by a long wooden bar and completed by a few big screen TVs, a side lounge area and a gigantic Jenga game made of 2x4s.  

All of Parish’s current offering are available on tap in small tastes, pints and 64 oz. growlers. The taproom is open six days a week, but Saturday, the brewery offers free tours from noon to 2 pm. Thursday night patrons can test their intelligence with a round of trivia. The winner walks away with a bottle of Grand Reserve and bragging rights.

Within the next month, Parish will release Dr. Hoptagon a black IPA in 750ml bottles. And don’t worry…Godley says the Grand Reserve is already aging and it is on track to be even stronger than last year.  Look for it on shelves in late November-early December, but be aware—it goes fast!
