Christmas in Natchez

Jolly and jovial holiday events all season long in the Bluff City

Between Thanksgiving and New Year's, the Bluff City packs in sleigh-loads of holiday events, collectively known as "Christmas in Natchez." It all kicks off with a virtual Christmas Tree Lighting on November 28. For years, this annual Natchez tradition has brought the city together for good holiday cheer as we usher in the holiday season. This year, the city gathers again—though this time from the safe spaces of home.

As part of the Natchez Bed and Breakfast Association’s Christmas in Natchez series of events, guests and locals can meet for “Libations at Linden,” held every Friday and Saturday in December. Those who purchase tickets will get to try a cupful of Natchez’ traditional Holiday Milk Punch cocktail, the recipe of which dates back to the seventeenth century and is said to originate from Aphra Behn, an English writer and spy. The Linden Historic Bed and Breakfast offers all the cozy warmth of home to locals and visitors alike. The historic home, which has been in the same family since 1839, is set on seven serene acres of land with the benefit of close proximity to downtown Natchez and the Mississippi River.

Christmas in Natchez also brings the return of elaborate light displays at the historic Sunnyside Bed & Breakfast, an 1850’s Greek-Revival cottage with more than thirty decorated Christmas firs in and around the home. Candlelight tours of the glittering halls within The Towers, a restored late nineteenth century grand mansion, will be available on December 5th, 12th, and 19th. Owner Ginger Hyland will lead “A Jeweled Christmas Tour at The Towers” opening Saturday, November 28 through Wednesday, December 30.

On Saturday, December 5, the second annual Very Merry Christmas Market features some of the best vendors of handcrafted wares in the South, held at the Natchez Convention Center. End the day with the annual downtown Natchez Christmas Parade at 6 pm. In the true Christmas spirit of hospitality, Natchez truly outdoes itself when it comes to overnight accommodations. Whether you're checking into one of the city's renowned historic homes such as the elegantly comfortable Clermont Bluffs, a stunning bed and breakfast such as the historic Oak Hill Inn, or an upscale downtown hotel such as the Natchez Grand, you won't find a better backdrop for your sojourn.
