Fall Festivals and Covington Fun

Live entertainment, cultural highlights, and unforgettable food

In Louisiana, our festivals tend to bring out the best in us: a sense of revelry and community, live entertainment, cultural highlights, and—of course—unforgettable food. We'll take any excuse to party, and the cooler temperatures of the autumn months are more than enough of a reason!

November 10 and 11 brings a celebration of the vibrant arts community. The Covington Three Rivers Art Festival takes advantage of the beautiful weather to get 200+ juried artists from all over the U.S. to the lovely streets of downtown Covington to showcase their work. The unique experience draws more than 60,000 attendees each year. “No reproductions are allowed; every piece on display has been touched by hand. And of course you get the opportunity to speak to the artists themselves. It's very personal, a unique way to experience the art,” says Sarada Bonnett, festival coordinator for Three Rivers. The festival also includes a children’s discovery art, live art demonstrations, a student art exhibition, food, live music and more.

On the following Saturday, November 17, Falaya Fest is a great chance for the whole family to come out and dance the day away. This grassroots festival boasts a musical lineup twice as hefty as 2017's inaugural festival, including local favorites such as Cowboy Mouth, The Cheeseburger Ranchers, Gal Holiday & The Honky-Tonk Revue, as well as plenty of local food vendors. One of event coordinator Megan Garcia's favorite parts about the festival? The venue itself. “We just love seeing people get out and enjoy the park!” says Garcia. Situated on the scenic Bogue Falaya River, Bogue Falaya Wayside Park is truly a Covington gem. Even without an all-day party, the park is a great place to hang out with family and friends for an afternoon of play or relaxation.

But these are far from the only festivals gracing the Northshore this season. If you can't get enough fresh air and free music (and who can, really?), Covington has you covered with Rockin' the Rails, featuring live music every Thursday evening in October at the Covington Trailhead. Still not enough? Don't miss 2018's final installments of the popular concert series Sunset at the Landing (October 19) and the delightful Columbia Street Block Party and Classic Car Show (October 26) before they go into hibernation for the winter.
