A place of dark nights and ancient structures, where ghosts walk in moonlight and Southern gothic legends snake tendrils across the landscape as thick as kudzu. With Halloween looming, come discover the strange, the uncanny, and the creepy side of Mississippi history by learning the unearthly stories behind four of the state’s most notorious supernatural sites.

Start your journey in Vicksburg, where an eclectic mix of ghostly occupants insist on calling the McRaven House home. Be on the lookout for a notorious robber who used the early pioneer home as a hideout, a playful young wife who died too young in childbirth, a businessman murdered for a brick-throwing incident, and soldiers who passed away in a Civil War field hospital that was set up inside the home. Featured on the Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures in 2018, McRaven House has also appeared in National Geographic Magazine, LIFE Magazine, and on CBS’s 48 Hours

Come discover the strange, the uncanny, and the creepy side of Mississippi history while learning the unearthly stories behind four of the state's most notorious supernatural sites.

Follow the Mississippi River south to Natchez, the state’s oldest town with a colorful and nefarious past. Home to lavish antebellum homes and sweeping views of the Mississippi, Natchez also harbors a darker side—one prime for supernatural sightings. You might experience flickering lights, slamming doors, and ghostly apparitions during an evening candlelit walk through The Towers of Natchez. Feel a chill run up your spine as the Turning Angel follows your progress through Natchez City Cemetery, where you might also hear a mother singing to comfort her lost child, who was fearful of thunderstorms before her untimely death many years ago.

Head east toward Meridian and snake your way down the Chunky River to reach Stuckey’s Bridge. Watch out for the tell-tale signs of Old Man Stuckey’s presence, making sure to slip away before he ensnares you in his murderous scheme. Carrying a lantern, he’s wandered the bridge for over a century, and lured in numerous unwary victims.
