Learn More About Ashley Longshore

Ashley Longshore is a New Orleans- and New York-based, self-taught artist who is regularly called a young, feminist Andy Warhol for her contribution to pop art and the inspiration she finds in pop culture figures and brands. Longshore has built an empire in the art world—one that challenges the traditional business model of art galleries. The Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) is thrilled to be the first museum to exhibit her work.

As a powerhouse artist and a social media pioneer, Longshore has built a global brand and used her platform to encourage positivity and authenticity. Longshore paved a colorful path for pop art and fashion to coexist. She recently released her second book, Roar!: A Collection of Mighty Women  (Rizzoli, November 2021), which features portraits of some of the most culturally important women in history. This book is the inspiration for her exhibition at LASM, which includes 33 women from her collection who have had an impact on society in the arts, sciences, the political sphere, and beyond.

Longshore also just completed a residency at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, commemorating the luxury hotel’s 30th anniversary. During her stay, Longshore created paintings and curated experiences that embodied the history, allure, and glamor that are synonymous with Beverly Hills.

Additionally, Longshore was Bergdorf Goodman’s first female artist solo exhibition in its 100-plus-year history and appeared on Bravo’s Project Runway, where her artwork inspired Christian Siriano’s Fall 2019 runway collection. She has collaborated with Gucci, Titan Black, and Maybelline, with her most recent and ongoing collaborations including Christofle, Dee Hilfiger, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Judith Leiber.

Her art has been exhibited across America and Europe, and been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, and Forbes.  Longshore’s most popular works include larger-than-life portraits of fashion icons such as Kate Moss, Anna Wintour, and Audrey Hepburn, as well as her Trophy series, a collection of pieces that explore the themes of money and power; and her Labeled series, an assortment of vibrant poster-style works featuring fun and irreverent messaging. She is currently incubating a musical for Broadway, planning a BIG project in Hollywood, and of course has plans to publish more books.

Longshore aspires to “have a career like Andy Warhol and leave a legacy like Peggy Guggenheim.” Ultimately, she will leave her mark as a celebrated pop artist through the development of her foundation, The Ashley Longshore Charitable Trust, which will leave a vital capsule of her collection of works.
