Milford's on Third: Deli Style with Southern Smiles

Tried and true city folk know you can't have the perfect downtown without having the perfect deli. Milford's on Third is set to carve out its niche in Baton Rouge's own downtown, serving up a smorgasbord of high-quality delicatessen offerings on a plate of Southern style and hospitality.

Located in the stunningly restored Watermark hotel, Milford's is an homage to developer Mike Wampold's grandfather, Milton Wampold, who perfected most of the menu's featured items behind the deli counter of his grocery store in north Louisiana. The casual eatery boasts a mouthwatering lineup worthy of New York City, but with a friendly, personal attitude towards service that's synonymous with the South. Here you'll find anything from bagels and schmear to barbecued chicken, and the sandwiches' hand-crafted breads are piled high with meats and cheeses. 

We're all familiar with the sentiment “if you want something done right, do it yourself,” but Milford's on Third really takes it to heart.  House-made specialties from tangy pickles to just-baked muffins and fresh ingredients sourced from local purveyors give each meal a personal touch. And yes, the matzo ball soup is homemade too.

The produce isn't the only thing that's fresh, either. Milford's offers its own take on deli classics to keep those taste buds sharp. Do you prefer your schmear savory, sweet, or spicy?  You can slather your favorite bagel with a range of flavors from lemon dill to pumpkin pie, and don't forget to throw on some “oofta”! Wine and beer are also available if you need that after-work pick-me-up. Milford's is conveniently located, as one might expect, on Third Street. On a busy day, though, even so close can seem so far away when you're trapped behind a desk. Luckily, they deliver to the downtown Baton Rouge area as well!
